Living With Grief: Children and Adolescents

Learn how we can help children and adolescents cope with loss. Topics covered will include: ways grief can be manifested in children and adolescents, strategies to work with grieving children and adolescents, strategies to empower parents and other support systems such as school, and faith communities to care for grieving children.

Pamela is also President of the California Chapter of the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC So Cal). In addition to a discussion lead by keynote speaker Pamela Gabbay, a panel of providers who serve grieving children and adolescents in the Santa Barbara Community will offer their expertise. MEDICAL CAREER DEVELOPMENT

Personal Care Attendant Training Program

This short-term program is designed to provide students with an introduction to entry-level personal care skills. Students will be taught how to assist patients and family with non-medically directed personal care and home management activities. It will prepare students to seek employment or care for a loved one.
Subjects covered will be: Understanding and Working with Older Patients (including those with Alzheimer’s Disease), Caregiver Ethics and Skills, Home Safety, Physical Movement, Communication, Nutrition, Medication Guidelines, Skin Care and Cleanliness and Caring for the Caregiver.
Upon completion of the program and successful demonstration of competency skills, students will receive a Continuing Education Division Award of Program Completion.

Having these conversations before a crisis when there is honest discuassion and planning is more valuable for your and your family. Massage as Therapy: Bilingual

A good massage releases tension, improves circulation and oxygen flow, and enhances healing and immune functions. It’s an excellent way of improving digestive processes, regulating blood pressure and increasing serotonin levels. So, be nice to yourself and join us to enjoy the healing benefits of massage as you learn and practice the basic techniques of Swedish massage and accupressure patterns. Students will also sample pleasing botanical fragrances and oils for massage.
Bring a large towel and a pad or blanket and pillows. Wear a bathing suit or shorts and a strap tee shirt. Come with a friend if you are hesitant to work with people you don’t know. By the end of the course, you will know how to give a relaxing full body massage and how to combine oils and fragrances to enhance a therapeutic experience.

The Mature Driver Course

A course specifically designed foe the safe driving needs of Mature Drivers, age 55 and over. Those seeking their first /initial DMV Certificate, valid for a period of 3 years and qualifying them for a reduced automobile insurance premium, must complete an INITIAL 8-HOUR COURSE.
2007 legislation permits renewal of an existing DMV Certificate by attending a
4-HOUR RENEWAL COURSE. If the existing Certificate has been expired for longer than one year, completing the 8-hour Initial Course will be necessary.
